Pitt volleyball had a major high on Wednesday when it swept No. 3 Kentucky, but the crash hit just two days later against Wright State. Still, the Panthers were able to get out of the bind and finish the weekend with a pair of wins.
Coming in, many would’ve thought Friday’s match with the Raiders would’ve been easy. That was a bit of an oversight. Wright State is the favorite in the Horizon League and definitely gave Pitt a challenge. The Panthers found themselves in a hole pretty early into the first set. Errors were killer, and Wright State used that advantage to take a 12-6 lead.
Outside hitter Blaire Bayless finally got settled, scoring four points to tie the game at 13-13. The teams traded points, but Pitt was able to reach set point first. A major lift from Wright State’s Mya Ayro
