As rookie running back Kaleb Johnson looks to crack the Steelers offensive rotation, he made an all-time special teams gaffe Sunday that definitely won’t help his cause.

After the Seahawks kicked a 54-yard field goal to take a 17-14 lead with 12:46 left in the fourth quarter, Johnson lined up deep to field the ensuing kickoff. Jason Myers booted the ball deep into the right corner. The ball took an awkward hop around the 12-yard line and bounced near Johnson’s head.

It appeared as if Johnson’s hand touched the ball as it bounded into the end zone, but even if it didn’t, the new kickoff rules state that a ball that falls in the landing zone must be fielded or it becomes a live ball.

The Seahawks just recovered a kickoff in the end zone for a touchdown!
