TAMA COUNTY, Iowa -- One person was killed after a crash which resulted in a care fire in Tama County on Saturday.
According to the Tama County Sheriff's Office, around 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, a deputy was driving on Highway 30 near the Exit 204 interchange when they noticed heavy smoke. After arriving on scene, the deputy found a vehicle fully engulfed in flames.
Additional assistance responded to the scene which was located south of the railroad tracks, in the 3400 block of N Avenue. Authorities say due to the area being remote and hard-to-reach it was initially unclear whether anyone was inside the vehicle.
