MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — The best performance of Drake Maye’s career came at a potentially pivotal moment in the young quarterback’s career.
Maye was supposed to show growth in Year 2. He was expected to take a leap and perform better with a real head coach, an experienced offensive coordinator, upgraded offensive weapons and an improved offensive line. That did not happen in Maye’s first start, a disappointing 20-13 loss to the Raiders that left the second-year pro looking dejected last week and his head coach willing to evaluate if there was too much on the QB’s plate.

Maye was efficient, didn’t turn the ball over, made plays with his arm and his legs, instilled confidence in his teammates and, most importantly, came away with a 33-27 win in Week 2.
