GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - Leaders from the Green Bay Area Public School District and the Green Bay police chief are meeting with parents and families to discuss how to keep students safe.

New protocols are being put in place in schools after a loaded handgun was found last week after fights at Preble High School. A 16-year-old student is facing charges .

The meeting is Monday at 6 p.m. at Preble High School, 2222 Deckner Ave. It’s described as a roundtable discussion.

The district is encouraging everyone to attend and to bring ideas and strategies that could potentially be used to keep kids safe.

The district is already implementing two new protocols. One is requiring students in grades 6 through 12 to have clear backpacks starting next Monday, Sept. 22.
