COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - The South Carolina Highway Patrol is set to address its troopers being hit by vehicles in a string of recent crashes.

Officials, including SCHP Commander Col. Christopher Williamson and Chief Michael Oliver of the South Carolina Department of Public Safety, will hold a press conference on Monday.

It comes after three troopers have been hit while conducting traffic stops in the Midlands over the past month:

Trooper First Class Dennis Ricks died after being hit on Aug. 9 along Interstate 26 in Orangeburg County. The alleged driver who hit him has been arrested and has since been charged with reckless homicide.
