COLUMBIA, S.C. (WCSC) - The South Carolina Department of Public Safety will announce a joint statewide crackdown on distracted drivers in the wake of incidents involving troopers being hit by vehicles.
The agency will hold a news conference from its headquarters in Blythewood on Monday at 10:30 a.m.
One of the people expected to speak is Master Trooper Devin Kugler, who recovered from severe injuries after he was struck by a vehicle during a traffic stop in 2022.
South Carolina’s Move Over Law requires drivers approaching a stationary authorized emergency vehicle that is giving a signal by displaying emergency flashing lights to proceed with caution and significantly reduce the speed of their vehicle.
