NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — New Haven is just one of many Connecticut municipalities dealing with a shortage of affordable housing.
On Monday, several advocates and city officials gathered at the Omni Hotel to find solutions to this crisis during the national pro-homes conference, YIMBYtown.
"We want to make sure that the residents who have lived in our city for a long time can continue to live here," New Haven Mayor Justin Elicker said.
YIMBY stands for "Yes in My Backyard."
This annual three-day conference was hosted by Desegregate CT and the Regional Plan Association, a nonprofit planning organization that works in Connecticut, New York and New Jersey, in what they call one of the largest annual pro-housing conferences in the country.
