Tropical Storm Mario has regained strength off Mexico's Pacific coast , but it is not currently threatening land. According to the National Hurricane Center in Miami, Mario first became a tropical storm on Friday before briefly weakening to a tropical depression. By Sunday morning, it had regained tropical storm status.

As of Monday (September 15), Mario was centered about 160 miles west-northwest of Socorro Island and approximately 290 miles south of the southern tip of Mexico’s Baja California peninsula. The storm's maximum sustained winds were recorded at 45 mph, and it was moving west-northwest at 7 mph.
