PALMER, Iowa (KTIV) - An anonymous tip led to the rescue of more than a dozen dogs from “unsanitary living conditions” in a camper in Palmer, Iowa.

According to a release from the Pocahontas County Sheriff’s Office, the Moffitt Animal Shelter received an anonymous report of possible animal neglect at a residence on the 100 block of Main Street on Aug. 14.

The sheriff’s office, along with the Animal Rescue League of Iowa and the Moffitt Animal Shelter, went to the residence at 12:36 p.m. that day, where they saw four small dogs confined in the bathroom of a camper parked near the residence.

Upon this discovery, law enforcement entered the camper with the owner’s consent. Court documents described the living area as unsanitary, with various excrement covering the floor and bathtub.
