A man was convicted Friday of raping a teenage girl at a Rockland hotel that was being used as an emergency shelter for migrants in 2024, according to prosecutors and court records.
Cory B. Alvarez, 27, was found guilty of rape of a child aggravated by a 10-year difference by a Plymouth Superior Court jury.
Alvarez, who had been free awaiting trial, was taken into custody by court officers and will remain held pending his sentencing, set for Sept. 30 at 2 p.m., records show.
He faces a mandatory 10 years in prison, prosecutors said.
Alvarez is a Haitian national who came to the United States legally through a federal program and was part of a wave of migrants given temporary housing by the Healey administration in 2024.
