CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - A memorial message recently painted on a Charlotte high school’s spirit rock was considered vandalism by district leaders after it paid tribute to late conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
The message was spray-painted at Ardrey Kell High School in south Charlotte, but was covered up not long after.
When Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools was reached for comment, it said the memorial message was painted “without permission” and was “considered vandalism to school property.” The district added that the message violated its code of conduct.
“If students were responsible for the vandalism they may be disciplined,” the district’s response said in part. “Law enforcement has been contacted and we are cooperating with the investigation.”
