PORTLAND, Maine — Getting enough rest is super important; however, getting enough intentional rest is key. Dr Allyson Coffin stopped by the 207 studio to explain the difference and why intentional rest is beneficial to our health.

Q. What is the difference between just resting and intentional rest?
Dr. Allyson Coffin: We all know what sleep is, and that's like laying in your bed sleeping. Intentional rest are things that you're doing on purpose to calm down your body and your nervous system.
Some examples of intentional rest are taking a break, sitting down and not touching any electronics and sitting there for like one to five minutes and just with your thoughts. Another one is meditation.
