WESTBROOK, Maine — Police arrested a man accused of breaking into multiple vehicles in Westbrook on Thursday, September 11.

Officers responded to reports of several car burglaries and tracked the suspect to Eisenhower Drive, where he tried to run off. Police quickly set up a perimeter, located the man, and took him into custody.

Police identified the suspect as Michael Blackwell, a 43-year-old transient individual. Police said he faces theft charges linked to multiple car burglaries. Officers recovered some stolen property during the arrest and investigation.

Police said there have been several car burglaries in recent weeks, often involving vehicles left unlocked overnight. They reminded residents to lock their vehicles to help prevent future break-ins.
