EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) — An Evansville mother was arrested and charged with neglect after being accused of leaving a 2-year-old alone on a front porch.

Police say they responded to a 911 call in August about a 2-year-old girl being left alone on a front porch on Harriet Street.

According to EPD, the 911 caller said they knew the mother of the victim was 25-year-old Latizja Cole, who had been having trouble taking care of the victim and two other kids.

EPD says the 911 caller explained that Cole had asked them to take care of the victim on different occasions.

On the day of the incident, police say Cole sent a text asking them to take care of the victim, where Cole said she was "about to hurt" the 2-year-old victim.
