Southeast DC robbery suspect arrested minutes after knifepoint holdup

Washington, DC – A Friday evening robbery in Southeast ended quickly after a suspect allegedly pulled a knife on a victim, stole their belongings, and was arrested just minutes later nearby.

Around 7:08 p.m., a man approached a victim at Ridge Road and D Street, Southeast, displayed a knife, and demanded property. The victim complied, and the suspect fled with the stolen items.

Officers from the Sixth District located the suspect in the area shortly after the robbery. He was taken into custody without incident.

Following an investigation, 61-year-old Kenneth Stewart of Southeast, DC, was charged with Armed Robbery (Knife). Authorities have not confirmed whether the stolen items were recovered.
