Though a (fairly) gentle rain began to fall about 30 minutes into PorchFest, most in the crowd didn’t seem to mind much. According to Nancy Kellner, one of the event’s co-founders along with MaryKae Wright, Bradley Wester, and Doug Popovich, the police estimated 5,000 people attended the event that stretched along High Street from Byfield to Walley streets. Many at the event with there for the first time.

“I think it was our smoothest event ever, as we have built in the capacity to handle last minute hiccups,” said Kellner. “Even the light precipitation didn't put a damper on things. Umbrellas unfurled or people just went with it and danced in the rain.”
