LOS ANGELES — Medical drama “The Pitt” earned the top honor at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards, taking home the award for Outstanding Drama Series, according to People .

In an emotional acceptance speech on Sept. 14, showrunner R. Scott Gemmill dedicated the win to healthcare workers and first responders.

“I want to dedicate this on behalf of everyone to all the healthcare workers, frontline first responders,” Gemmill said. “Respect them, protect them, trust them. Thank you!”

The series, produced by Warner Bros. and streaming on HBO Max , was among the most nominated shows of the night with 13 nods. Actor Noah Wyle, who stars as Dr. Robby, was also nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.
