A Huntsville woman was arrested over the weekend after police say she struck a man with a knife.

According to the Huntsville Police Department, 46-year-old Shelonda Marie Walton is charged with domestic violence with a knife.

This comes after, about 5:30 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to a possible cutting in progress in the 1900 block of Sparkman Drive.

Police say officers found a man at the scene with injuries consistent with being struck with a knife. The victim's injuries were considered non-life-threatening.

During an investigation, officers learned the victim got into an altercation with someone he knew inside the residence. The offender, Walton, is accused of injuring him with a knife during that altercation.

The officers located Walton inside the residence.
