The Edmonton Oilers have made their first round of cuts with training camp set to open up later this week.

With Monday being the last day of the Oilers’ annual rookie camp , management has opted to slim down the roster heading into main camp. A total of 25 players attended this year’s rookie camp, with the bulk of them playing in a pair of games against the Calgary Flames’ rookie squad last weekend.

The Oilers lost both of those games, albeit close, by a score of 6-5 on Friday at Rogers Place and 5-4 on Sunday night at Calgary’s Saddledome.

With the rookie camp coming to a close, Edmonton announced that the following seven players were released from their respective tryouts:

Andrew O’Neill (F)

Carson Woodall (D)
