SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — The Utah State Tax Commission released a warning to the public about a phishing scam text being circulated.
In a recent release, The Utah State Tax Commission alerted the public of a new text message being sent that is fraudulent. The text asks recipients to provide banking information in order to receive a tax refund.
The scam text appears official, but the Commission explains they do not request banking information, Social Security numbers, or other personal data via text message.
