Southern Adventist University (SAU) is losing a $3-millon federal grant.

This comes after a lawsuit filed in June by the state of Tennessee and Students for Fair Admission sued the Department of Education for "discriminatory grant programs."

This lawsuit targeted Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) programs.

The HSI program provides federal funding only to colleges and universities that have a student enrollment of 25% or more Hispanic students.

SAU is the only University in Tennessee identifying as an HSI.

In 2023, the $3-million grant was announced, now the University is working to figure out their next steps.
