Tia-Clair Toomey-Orr stumbled almost accidentally into CrossFit 12 years ago, putting her on a journey that led to the Australian mother being crowned "Fittest Woman on Earth" for a record eighth time.

"Words can't describe it," Toomey-Orr said.

"It never gets old, even after all these years."

It started in 2013 when she briefly stepped away from competitive sport to focus on her university studies.

Partner Shane Orr encouraged her to take up the high-intensity workout to compliment her running.

"It started as a hobby, something I thought I could do for the next 12 months," Toomey-Orr said.

Within a month, she competed in her first CrossFit Open and qualified for the 2015 CrossFit Games, where she finished runner-up in her debut year.
