ATLANTA — An investigation is underway after police discovered a man dead from a gunshot wound while doing a welfare check at a home in Atlanta on Saturday.

Atlanta Police said officers went out to the home on Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard on Saturday just before 1 p.m. When they got there, they found a 62-year-old man dead inside the home, with what appeared to be a gunshot wound that he died from.

Homicide investigators are working to figure out what happened and the Fulton County Medical Examiner is working to determine the official cause of death.
