MCCAYSVILLE, Ga. — Authorities have released a photo of the McCaysville police captain who was critically hurt in a late-night shooting while responding to a call for service.
The officer has been identified as Captain Brantley Worley, who was shot around 11:10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12, according to the McCaysville Police Department. Chief Michael Earley said Worley remains in critical condition.
Worley, who was promoted to captain in July, has served the department for years and is also an ordained minister. Chief Earley described him as a faithful public servant dedicated to his department and community.
