A man in Lawrence was pronounced dead in connection with a fatal shooting early Saturday, according to a statement from the Office of Essex County District Attorney Paul F. Tucker.

Lawrence police responded to a call shortly after 2 a.m. in regards to a shooting at 154 Essex Street, the statement said.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered a 27-year-old male who was pronounced deceased shortly after. The victims name was not immediately released pending family notification, the statement said.

In the statement, police said they do not expect to release any additional information about the incident Saturday.

The investigation remains active as of Saturday afternoon, according to the statement.
