MONROE, La. (KNOE) - The City of Monroe has a new fire chief after more than a year since the spot opened.
Governor Jeff Landry appointed Timothy Williams as the City of Monroe’s new fire chief.
Monroe Mayor Friday Ellis nominated Williams as fire chief in June 2025. However, the city council voted against his appointment.

“Public safety is and must always be a top priority, and I am grateful for the Governor’s commitment to ensuring our citizens receive the excellent fire services they deserve,” Ellis said.
Williams was the second candidate nominated by Ellis but voted down by the city council.
