COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL)-Still No Rain in Sight: Drought Risk Growing

It’s been a dry stretch—and it’s not letting up anytime soon. The last measurable rain in the area was barely anything: just 0.01", and that was on August 21st. Before that? 0.31" on August 13th, and a slightly better 0.88" earlier in the month. Other than that, just a trace here and there.

With such limited rainfall, about half of our region—from Columbus northward—is now facing a growing drought risk.

Right now, conditions are considered abnormally dry across east Alabama and west central Georgia. And unfortunately, the outlook isn’t much better. We’re still running above average on temperatures and below average on rainfall heading into the next few weeks.
