LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) is investigating after a shooting Monday afternoon in Old Louisville.

A heavy police presence could be seen outside the 800 Tower Apartments on South Fourth Street around 3:30 p.m.

In a statement, an LMPD spokesperson said officers found a man suffering from gunshot wounds inside the building and another man who also suffered gunshot wounds outside the building.

Officers rendered first aid until EMS could arrive and transport both men to the University of Louisville Hospital.

Both men were alert and conscious on the way to the hospital, police said, adding they are expected to survive.

LMPD's Non Fatal Shooting Unit is handling the investigation.
