MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A 15-year-old has been charged after allegedly assaulting an officer at a Whitehaven football game, MPD said.

A Memphis-Shelby County Schools (MSCS) officer said he and another officer were escorting the teen and others out of the gates after they attempted to fight when the 15-year-old refused to leave the premises and pushed the officer, police said.

The MSCS officer said that when the teen refused to leave, he grabbed him, and that was when he was pushed.

After being pushed, the officer said he “took the suspect to the ground,” and the 15-year-old got back up into a fighting stance, “as if he was attempting to fight,” police said.

The officer then wrestled the teen to the ground and placed him in handcuffs, according to police.

The teen declined medical attention,
