MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - A Madison nonprofit organization hosted a back-to-school giveaway this afternoon.

Families gathered at Urban Triage at 2312 South Park Street for the school supplies giveaway.

Urban Triage’s mission is to foster Black families self-sufficiency, community leadership, and advocacy.

Event organizers say the goal of the event was to make sure every student has what they need to succeed.

“It actually makes me feel good, because I’m a mother myself.” said Urban Triage case manager Marquetta Wortham. “So, if I was in that situation and I couldn’t, you know, afford anything, I would actually love a free backpack for my kids.”
