LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - The warm weather pattern is not going to change much over the next 10 days, so the heat will be the big weather story for a while.

Temperatures will be slightly above normal for the next 10 days with highs in the low 90s, the normal high in near 90 this time of year. With the humidity not getting too high that should keep the heat index near the same value as the temperature. Morning lows will be closer to normal with values ranging from the upper 60s north of I-10 to the mid 70s at the coast.

Rain chances are likely to remain limited but also not zero; in fact, the forecast now includes a 20% chance of rain each day. These showers will remain limited and like short-lived in nature and most likely in the afternoon hours.
