CINCINNATI (WXIX) - ST LOUIS — Elly De La Cruz is the face of the Reds, the guy that everybody looks to to spark an offense that hasn’t been consistent enough and the player that opposing teams circle on the scouting report and game plan around more than any other.

He’s also a 23-year-old in the worst slump of his baseball life who’s also battling a quad injury.

“I think he’s feeling it,” Terry Francona said. “His responsibility to our club is huge, especially for a kid so young. It’s human nature where you don’t want to let your teammates down.”
