GODLEY, Texas — Godley Independent School District is facing allegations of racism following a varsity volleyball game last week where spectators allegedly made monkey sounds directed at students, including two Black athletes, from the opposing team.

The incident occurred during a match between the Hillsboro Eagles and Godley Wildcats on Tuesday. Aaliyah Cephus, a Hillsboro athlete, was serving during the third set when Hillsboro parent Natalie Rea says she heard the inappropriate sounds from the Godley crowd.

"When I heard it, it just shot through me like, is this really happening?" Rea said.
