SCARBOROUGH, Maine — A school community in Southern Maine is remembering an assistant principal after a fatal crash over the weekend.

Classes at Scarborough High School were cancelled on Monday as staff and students mourned the loss of Jake Brown. Brown got in a car accident on Interstate 295 Saturday night, after leading state troopers on a pursuit.

A memorial grew outside of Scarborough High School on Monday, with flowers, mementos, and messages written by students.

"The impact that he left on everybody that he interacted with is just truly remarkable, and I think that's something that is really something hard to deal with right now," Jake Rutt, Brown's close friend and Biddeford Youth Hockey Association (BYHA) coach, said.
