WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — The Williamsburg Area Transit Authority has announced free fares on all its routes throughout the week, meant to encourage people to try out the benefits of public transportation.

In addition, the transit authority will have pop-up information tables with giveaways twice this week.

“Try Transit Week’s goal is to encourage new riders and promote our safe, convenient, and reliable service,” said Matthew Scalia, executive director of the Williamsburg Area Transit Authority. “See firsthand how public transportation benefits our community.”

Try Transit Week started Monday and lasts through Sept. 21. The free fares will be for everybody – residents, visitors, workers and students.
