DILWORTH, Minn. — The sun was beaming as Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton second graders serenaded the distant star, celebrating a new source of energy for their elementary school here.

On Monday morning, Sept. 15, students, teachers and staff gathered outside to celebrate the installation of solar panels at Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton Elementary School. The solar array covers much of the roof of the building.

“Mr. Sun, Sun, Mr. Golden Sun, please shine down on me,” the students sang.

The panels were installed over the summer and began operating in August. They were paid for through a $454,000 grant from the Minnesota Department of Commerce Solar for Schools Program.
