ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - State lawmakers are denouncing political violence across the Pelican State and beyond, following the assassination of political activist Charlie Kirk last week at Utah Valley University.

The National Library of Medicine defines political violence as “the deliberate use of power and force to achieve political goals.”

Political violence is not new in the United States. In our nation’s history, the assassinations of President John F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King, Jr., headlined the unrest in the 1960s.
