ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - September is National Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Awareness Month, and we are highlighting another one of our NICUs in the area.

NICU Awareness Month is recognized every September to honor NICU infants, graduates, and their families, along with healthcare professionals who care for them.

Rapides Regional Medical Centers Women’s and Children’s Hospital is home to the region’s largest newborn ICU.

It was opened in 2002 and currently holds around 35 patients.
