LANSING, Iowa — The Iowa Department of Transportation is making progress on launching a new car ferry system to help drivers cross the Mississippi River at Lansing while the new bridge is under construction.
Work on the north driveway of the Lansing Marina will begin on September 22 and is expected to last approximately one week. Once completed, the construction crew will shift to the south driveway starting on September 29. During these periods, the driveways will be closed, but Front Street will remain open for traffic.
Flaggers will be present to assist with traffic flow as needed. The earliest anticipated full bridge closure is October 15, though the official start date for the ferry service is still being finalized.
