WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — Warner Robins city leaders approved a safety upgrade at one of the city’s busiest and most high-risk railroad crossings.

At Tuesday’s city council meeting, members voted unanimously to move forward with a project that targets the railroad crossing on Elberta Road at State Route 247, a spot where trains and traffic frequently intersect.

The improvements will include flashing signs, raised pavement markers and new road striping. City officials said the goal is to improve visibility and reduce the risk of crashes at the crossing.

“The visibility and sight lines in this area lend themselves to a higher risk level, and that’s what this project is trying to address,” City Administrator James Drinkard said. “This is a very positive thing for the city, for our residents,
