'It's a dream come true' | Military couple with Central Georgia roots honored with exhibit at Tubman Museum

MACON, Ga. — Before he was a Robins Air Force Base General, Kelvin McElroy was a Fort Hill native.

"Sitting on my grandmother's front porch in east Macon, Georgia , sitting on the front porch, wondering, how can I see the world?" McElroy would ask himself.

General McElroy decided the military was his was to explore, joining ROTC at Fort Valley State University as a student. McElroy said he started out in the army, but that all changed when he met Maria.

"We met in Korea, so my first duty station was in Korea, so I met her, believe it or not, on a bus, going to an event on to Air Force event," McElroy said.
