CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - The city of Charleston is going gold this month to commemorate the life and legacy of a teenager.

Charleston City Council on Monday night recognized September as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and honored a brave young man named Maddox Potter. He passed away from cancer at the young age of 16.

Council members said Maddox’s love for golf, his bright spirit, and the love he inspired throughout the area encourage others to keep up the fight against childhood cancer.
