DENVER (KDVR) — The building on the corner of Lincoln Street and 7th Avenue in Denver has stood for more than 50 years, but it won't be standing much longer.
Piece by piece, it's coming down, though some of those pieces didn't land where they were supposed to on Monday.
"That's just crazy to see the Denver institution. It's been there forever. It's also an ugly, brutalist building. So it's kind of due to a degree,” Denver resident Eric Mandel said.
A day of major demolition on the former Denver 7 building didn’t exactly go off without a hitch. A piece of the wall near the back of the building came down on a construction vehicle and narrowly missed traffic along 7th Street. This shut down the eastbound lanes for the entire afternoon.
