The city council voted unanimously Monday night to sign the civility pledge adopted by the Illinois Municipal League.
“In the interest of civility, I pledge to promote civility by listening, being respectful of others, acknowledging that we are all striving to support and improve our community and understanding that we each may have different ideas for achieving that objective.”
Ward IV council member Michael McIntyre said it is important that council members continue to act in a civil despite policy differences.
“We’re here to serve people, and violence is never an option,”
