SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - One of Savannah’s most iconic landmarks is returning to the Hostess City Tuesday morning.

The Forsyth Park fountain was removed in June for restoration, and Thursday the company Landmark Preservation is bringing the beloved piece of history back in its newly restored glory.

The Forsyth Park fountain became a Savannah staple in 1858 - over 160 years ago. The last time it was restored was in 1988.

A lot of locals and visitors have been anticipating the grand return of the fountain here in Forsyth Park. However, there’s still a couple months worth of work that needs to be completed before the fountain starts fully operating.

The fountain pieces arrived in Savannah Monday afternoon and crews will start reinstalling the pieces in the fountain’s basin as early as 7 a.m
