SCOTTSBURG, Ind. —

Police in southern Indiana are searching for a parolee convicted of a 1996 murder who officials say walked away from his "placement."

Indiana State Police put out a silver alert for Roger Caldwell, 72, on Monday. Police say he was last seen Friday around 8:30 a.m.

A newly obtained BOLO from the Indiana Department of Corrections said he walked away from his placement, which we learned is a halfway house in Scottsburg, and is considered a fugitive.

Caldwell was convicted in 1996 of killing Andy Campbell, a groundskeeper at a Boy Scout camp in Charlestown.
