Rows of derelict houses in Glasgow’s Robroyston are finally to be pulled down after lying empty for almost two decades.

The houses , around Wallacewell Road and Standburn Road in the north Glasgow area, were boarded-up almost 20 years ago.

Residents have reported the empty houses became a blight on the area, the gardens a magnet for fly tipping and vermin infestations. Work has begun this month to demolish the properties and new housing will be built in their place.

The firm that owns the properties, Home Group, has now confirmed that they have secured approval to demolish the properties on Wallacewell Road, Brodie Road, Standburn Road and Northgate Road.

Work to disconnect gas, water and electricity began on Brodie Road in early September, with other sites to follow shortly. T
