DETROIT – There were three recipients of a game ball following the Detroit Lions’ blowout win over the Chicago Bears on Sunday. But only one of them had a milestone birthday on the horizon.
Former Lions principal owner Martha Firestone Ford turned 100 years old on Tuesday. Following the death of her husband, William Clay Ford Sr. – who had ownership of the team since 1963 – Ford served as principal owner for six years before handing the reins to her daughter, Sheila Hamp.
She celebrated her birthday on Sunday in the Lions’ locker room, where coach Dan Campbell presented her with a game ball to mark the occasion.
“I’m so proud of you all. And I’m so thankful for this,” Ford told the locker room. “I can’t tell you how thrilled I am with each game, and I see the results. And I think we’ve
