BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- A man is dead after being struck by two separate vehicles on Union Avenue Monday evening, according to the Bakersfield Police Department.

Officers were dispatched to 3300 Union Avenue just after 10 p.m. after a report of a pedestrian struck by a pickup truck while attempting to cross the street outside of a crosswalk. While still lying in the roadway, a second driver struck the man, according to BPD.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The first driver stayed on scene to cooperate with police, showed no signs of impairment and speed did not appear to be a factor, Bakersfield Police said.

The second driver fled the scene immediately and has not yet been identified, according to the Bakersfield Police Department.
